Eksplorasi Konsep Limit dalam Arsitektur Kayangan Api Bojonegoro
Abstract
This research focuses on revealing the concept of limits contained in the Kayangan Api architecture in Bojonegoro. Kayangan Api is a historical site known for its natural phenomenon of eternal flames that have burned since the Majapahit Kingdom. In addition to being a cultural tourism destination, this area also functions as a space for traditional ceremonies and spiritual activities of the local community. This research uses a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach. Data were obtained through field observations, interviews, documentation, and literature reviews, then analyzed using descriptive analytical techniques. The results show that the arrangement of bricks in the Kayangan Api well represents the concept of limits. This arrangement pattern can be interpreted as a polygonal approach to a circle, where the more circular bricks are arranged, the closer the shape is to a perfect circle. Thus, the Kayangan Api architecture not only holds cultural and historical value, but also contains mathematical representations that can be used as contextual learning resources, especially in understanding the concept of limits.
