Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of providing non-cognitive diagnostic assessments and problem-based learning approaches on students’ mathematics outcomes. The research method used was a quasi-experimental with a 2 x 2 factorial research design. The population and sample in this study were eight-grade students of SMP Negeri Satu Atap Nunhala. The results that (1) there are diffrences in learning outcomes between students who are taught with PBL and conventionalapproaches; (2) there are diffrences between students’ learning outcomes with visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning styles; (3) there is a significant interaction between learning outcomes and learning styles taught with PBL and conventional approaches. Thus, non-cognitive diagnostic assesments and problem-based learning approaches are effective on students’ mathematics learning outcomes.
