Abstract

This article discusses the steps required to transform ethnomathematics learning. Ethnomathematics is explored to uncover aspects of mathematics found within the cultures around us. To achieve this, a relevant approach is necessary, namely the ethnomathematics approach. Through this method, students are encouraged to understand mathematical concepts in a more contextual and meaningful way, providing them with more relevant experiences. Why does ethnomathematics learning require transformation? The current ethnomathematics learning process reveals weaknesses in the use of media and interactive applications. Today, the integration of technology through digital media is essential and can be applied to realize effective ethnomathematics learning. Maximizing student engagement in ethnomathematics learning is also crucial. By delivering ethnomathematics in an interactive way that involves students, it is hoped that they will be more active and able to think critically and creatively. Through culturally-based ethnomathematics learning, mathematics education is expected to become more relevant and accessible to students, making it especially significant within the Indonesian context.
