Abstract

Thhis research aims to describe students' algebraic thinking skills using Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based learning on the topic of Two-Variable Linear Equation Systems. The AI used is Symbolab. The students in class VIII students of SMPN 1 Indralaya Selatan in the 2024/2025 academic year participated in this study. This study is a type of qualitative descriptive research. Data were collected from written tests and interviews. The learning model used is Problem Based Learning (PBL) accompanied by Student Worksheets (LKPD) which are adjusted to three indicators of algebraic thinking skills, namely (1) generational activities, (2) transformational activities, and (3) global meta level activities. After implementing AI-based learning on the SPLDV topic, the trial results showed that the percentage of students' algebraic thinking skills for generational activities was 96% for question one and 45% for question two. For transformational activities, the percentage of students who achieved it was 87% for question one and 44% for question two. Meanwhile, for global meta-level activities, the percentage of students who achieved it was 72% for question one and 21% for question two. It can be concluded that the most frequently appearing indicator of algebraic thinking ability is in generational activities.
