Rhizosphere is an area around plant roots that plays a very important and ideal role as a place to grow and develop diverse soil microbes, this is supported by moist soil conditions that are suitable for fungi to grow. These rhizosphere fungi can be utilized as biological control agents because they are antagonistic to other fungi. Rhizosphere fungi themselves have the ability to induce the plant's immune system against disease, support plant fertility, and also play a role in improving soil fertility. This study was conducted to determine the presence and characteristics of microfungi isolated from forest soil in Sekebitung, Ciparanje, Padjadjaran University. This research was conducted using a descriptive- explorative method using qualitative data collection. Qualitative data collection was carried out by isolating microfungi from forest rhizosphere soil samples using the pour cup method followed by observation of their macroscopic and microscopic characteristics. The results of this study indicate that there are two types of microfungi isolated from rhizosphere soil samples of Sekebitung forest, Ciparanje, Padjadjaran University, namely Penicillium spp. and Aspergillus spp. which are common microfungi found in soil because they can produce secondary metabolite compounds that are beneficial to soil and plants.
