The independent curriculum is synonymous with learning that supports students. To facilitate the goals of an independent curriculum requires educators to implement differentiated learning. Differentiated learning is a strategy that can meet students' learning needs according to the character, abilities, interests and potential of each student. Differentiated learning aims to accommodate learning by paying attention to student learning readiness (readiness), student interests, and student learning preferences. Differentiated learning can be done in three forms, namely content, process and product differentiation. Differentiated learning design can facilitate students in meeting the different learning needs of each student. This article is a literature study which aims to discuss differentiated learning and examples of differentiated learning designs. Further information regarding how differentiated learning design can facilitate the learning needs of junior high school students is also discussed in this article.
