Abstract

Students' mathematical problem solving skills are still relatively low, therefore the Search, Solve, Create, and Share (SSCS) learning model is used as a learning approach to improve students' problem solving skills. This study aims to determine and describe the mathematical problem solving skills of VIII grade students on SPLDV material through the Search, Solve, Create, and Share (SSCS) learning model. This type of research is descriptive and the research subjects are VIII grade students of SMPN 1 Indralaya Selatan. The research data were taken from written test results and interviews. The Search, Solve, Create, and Share (SSCS) learning model using LKPD according to the four stages of problem solving ability indicators, namely (1) understanding the problem, (2) developing strategies, (3) carrying out strategies, and (4) checking back. The results of this study concluded that students' mathematical problem solving skills were categorized as moderate, namely there were 19% or 4 students in the high category, 52% or 11 students in the moderate category, and 29% or 6 students in the low category. The highest occurrence of problem solving ability indicators is understanding the problem has a percentage of 91.7%, indicators that are categorized as moderate, namely developing strategies have a percentage of 72.5% and carrying out strategies have a percentage of 53.5%, while the indicator of checking back is categorized as low has a percentage of 16.7%.
