Abstract

Problem-solving is the process of overcoming various difficulties to achieve desired goals. Mathematics learning in schools emphasizes the importance of problem-solving skills. This skill is essential for understanding mathematics in school. The presence of learning media can enhance students' enthusiasm for learning. One type of learning media that teachers can use to deliver instructional content is through the use of educational media. Problem-solving aims to help students more easily apply knowledge by relating it to other fields to thrive in the modern world. Based on this background, this study was conducted to measure students' mathematical problem-solving abilities through the use of animated media. This research is a quantitative descriptive study with the subjects being Grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Indralaya Selatan. Data collection was carried out through written tests and interviews. Data analysis techniques included analyzing test data, interview data, and drawing conclusions. The results of the analysis of written test data and interviews showed that the mathematical problem-solving ability of Grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Indralaya Selatan is categorized as moderate, with an average score of 68.41. The highest indicator percentage was understanding the problem at 96.89%, while the lowest was rechecking the results obtained, at 17.58%.
