Abstract

Technological advances in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era have paved the way for educational innovations like Virtual Reality (VR) as a learning medium. This study examines VR’s effectiveness in boosting students' motivation in mathematics, along with its benefits and drawbacks. Data from the 2022 PISA report shows that motivation for learning math in Indonesia is still low. Motivation, a key factor in learning outcomes, can be enhanced through more engaging and interactive experiences like VR. Using a literature study method, this research analyzes VR's impact on learning motivation and its pros and cons in educational contexts. Findings reveal that VR effectively raises motivation, fosters engagement, supports visual and realistic understanding of math concepts, and provides a personalized, immersive experience. However, VR has limitations, such as restricted access, high costs, significant time demands, and potential health risks if overused.
