Abstract

One of the factors causing low student learning motivation, besides mathematics being considered a difficult subject, is the selection of learning media that seems very monotonous and uninteresting. This study aims to describe the learning motivation of junior high school students through ethnomathematics-based learning in the context of a 100-pillar pyramid house assisted by animated video media. This study is a descriptive study with a qualitative method. The results of this study indicate that the average percentage of student learning motivation is 76.80% which is classified as high motivation. Meanwhile, based on the results of the questionnaire, 3 levels of learning motivation were obtained, namely, very high motivation, high motivation, and sufficient motivation. For the percentage of very high motivation, 14% was obtained with 9 students, high motivation obtained 72% with 45 students, and sufficient motivation obtained 14% with 9 students.
