Abstract

The PISA framework illustrates that computational thinking can play a role in problem-solving processes. However, the implementation of computational thinking-based learning in Indonesia remains limited. This study aims to describe seventh-grade students' computational thinking abilities based on the indicators of decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithm after the application of computational thinking-based learning. The study uses a quantitative descriptive research method. The research subjects are 27 students from Class VII of SMP Negeri 2 Indralaya Selatan in the first semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. Data collection techniques used in this study include observation, tests, and questionnaires. The results show that 37.0% of students were able to decompose the given problems, 51.8% could recognize patterns in the problems, 51.8% could select relevant information or abstract from the problems, and 44.4% of students were able to solve the problems effectively based on the algorithm indicator.
