Abstract

This study aims to explore mathematical concepts and cultural values in the traditional game Bheti Ndalu Londo Esa Tedu Didesa Timbazia. The type of research used is ethnographic research with a qualitative approach. The research instruments used consisted of main instruments and auxiliary instruments.  The research location is Timbazia Village, with the research subjects being community leaders and 10-year-old Bheti Ndalu Londo Esa Tedu game players. Data collection techniques in this study used technical triangulation by means of observation, interviews and documentation on the same source. The data analysis technique used in this research refers to Spradley's design, namely domain analysis, taxonomy analysis, componential analysis, and cultural theme analysis. The results showed that the Bheti Ndalu Londo Esa Tedu game contains various mathematical concepts such as the shape of a circle, triangle, hemisphere, ball, line, and number operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and arithmetic sequence. These concepts are applied in the context of the game, showing that mathematics can be found in the daily cultural practices of children in Timbazia Village.
