Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of lemon anatomy with
its various potentials in the industrial and health sectors. The approach used is
qualitative with a descriptive method where the data object in this study is lemon or
with the Latin name Citrus limon L. Data analysis is carried out in several ways,
namely: 1) Data Reduction, 2) Data Display , and 3) Drawing conclusions. Based
on the results of the research, it can be concluded that lemons can provide benefits to
the industrial sector and also the ingredients of a skin health product. Lemon has
several bioactive compounds that can maintain skin health and moisture, especially
citric acid and vitamin C derived from the cell part of the lemon peel oil gland can
protect the skin from exposure to free radicals, help in the process of skin cell
regeneration, act as a natural exfoliator that can remove dead skin cells and help in
the process of brightening the skin. The use of lemon in skin care products can be
applied to moisturize, brighten and overcome several skin problems such as dull
skin and acne. The potential of lemons is also a great opportunity for the industrial
sector, albedo lemon peel contains pectin compounds which if extracted can be used
as a thickener and natural gel maker such as in jams and jellies.
