Abstract

This article discusses the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in ethnomathematics learning to improve students' numeracy literacy in accordance with the Merdeka Curriculum. Numeracy literacy, which involves the ability to understand, analyze, and apply mathematical concepts in everyday life, is an essential skill in the 21st century. However, various international studies such as PISA and TIMSS show that the numeracy literacy of Indonesian students is still low. Therefore, an innovative approach that is relevant and contextualized is needed to improve numeracy literacy. This research uses the literature study method by collecting and analyzing information from various relevant sources, such as scientific journals and books. The focus of the study is how AI and ethnomathematics can complement each other: AI provides an adaptive and interactive learning experience, while ethnomathematics relates mathematical concepts to local culture which makes learning more meaningful and contextual. The results show that the integration of AI in ethnomathematics facilitates students' understanding of numerical concepts. This learning is in line with Merdeka Curriculum which encourages personalization and creativity in the learning process. With AI, teachers can provide real-time feedback and students learn math through cultural phenomena close to their lives. This integration enriches the learning experience and has the potential to be an effective solution in addressing numeracy literacy challenges in Indonesia.
